Tree Care

Japanese Maple First thing: We lose less than 2% of the trees and plants that are planted every year. Your tree/plant is not warranted due to lack of attention by the homeowner.

Second: Have a good insect control program. Paradise Nursery personnel can assist you with a program.

Third: Do not use a root feeder! This is the biggest mistake you can make. It creates voids in the tree and severely stresses the tree.

Forth: Mulch-mulching is very important to your trees root temperature and moisture retention. We recommend that you mulch your trees with 3 to 5 inches of mulch.

Soil: We recommend that the air pockets left around the root ball be filled in with topsoil. Leaving air pockets open will put your tree at risk for disease, rodents, and over watering.

Insect Control (#1 killer of transplanted trees): Recent dry summers has resulted in extensive insect control programs. Keeping insects off of your trees will ensure that your trees will grown full, healthy leaves. Healthy leaves will give your trees the best nutrition available. Paradise Nursery can offer affordable insect control or supple you with the chemicals needed for such a program.

Root Stimulator: Root stimulators are very important to your tree for the first three years. There are many stimulators on the market with many different benefits. Paradise can recommend or sell you some of our stimulators. Paradise uses SuperThrive as a part of our nutrition program. SuperThrive is the best root stimulator sold on the retail market. This product is available for $200.00 per gallon or $2.00 and ounce.

Fertilization: It is recommended you should fertilize your trees during the months of October thru March. Before you apply any fertilizer to your trees, contact Paradise for correct amount and application procedure. *Don't fertilize trees after April 1st. Fertilizing after that time will add more stress to your trees.

Biggest Mistakes: Forgetting to water your tree during the hottest months (Mid-July to Mid-September) of the year. Just because you have a sprinkler doesn't mean that your trees will get enough water. Your trees will need some what more water than your grass.
